Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all. I know I am only twenty days late in wishing everyone a happy new year but after yesterdays inauguration, it is a new year. Although some may not be too happy about it; It is historic. This entry has nothing to do with the new year or the inauguration. I had been waiting on a photo from a friend on a collaborative creation, well I am still waiting.
So while I wait I decided to post the snowflake I made. Since it is January and it is cold and there is snow! A few weeks ago I was doing inventory in my studio and I pulled out this sheet of glass to cut up to sell. Well as I went to break my score mark, I'm not 100% sure what happened but I dropped it.....on the top of my foot (which still hurts). Now I cannot sell these one hundred small pieces that I just created, what now?
I love the glass. It is clear with a very textured swirl in it. It almost sparkles. Ok, perfect for snowflakes! Yesterday I finally sat down, drew up my snowflake pattern, and made one. The soldering isnt typical of soldering one ususally sees in stained glass. It is created by taking a wet sponge and pressing it into the hot solder, giving a great texture, which I found to compliment the glass and the snowflake in general. I envision many of these, different sizes, hanging from a ceiling. One down many to go!
